Bedtime reading is one of the moments parents most want to protect, but they are not always in the room, and generic story apps feel impersonal and screen-heavy. The hard part was making a story feel like it genuinely came from mum or dad: it had to use the child’s name and interests, sound like the actual parent, and stay safe and age-appropriate for kids as young as two, all without turning bedtime into screen time.
We built TaleTuck around two AI pipelines working together: a text pipeline that writes a fresh, age-appropriate story from the child’s profile, and a voice pipeline that clones the parent from a 15-second recording and narrates it. The product is deliberately audio-first and screen-free, so the phone can be set down while the story plays. We shipped native to both the App Store and Google Play with a free tier to lower the trial barrier and a premium subscription for the features families actually keep using.
TaleTuck is live on iOS (Education, rated 4+) and Google Play (Kids). Parents record once, set up a child profile, and get new personalized stories nightly, each narrated in their cloned voice. The free plan covers two stories a week with a generic narrator and one child profile; premium unlocks unlimited stories, the parent’s own voice, multiple child and parent-voice profiles, story illustrations, offline downloads, and a gentle sleep timer that fades out for sleep. The experience is ad-free with no tracking, and stories can be shared via private links that expire after three days.
